Twitch Dry Needling Video Clip. Episode 13: Dry Needling For The Forgotten Muscle

This video describes how I apply dry needling to the forgotten muscle followed by a complimentary Manual Therapy technique.

00:01 Hi. Welcome to the Twitch Dry Needling Video Training Series where I’ll show you a fantastic dry needling technique followed by manual therapy technique to get great results for your patients every time.
00:11 Okay. Very often, we have patients who come in and present with shoulder problems, rotator cuff injuries and so on. We’re very keen to have a look at their rotator cuff muscles and everyone looks at that but a forgotten muscle is the deltoid, really important muscle to add to the treatment program from a dry needling perspective and general management. Dry needling for the deltoid is really important for this type of patient.
00:37 So we’ll see that it’s very easy to needle and then follow up with a manual therapy technique to stretch that muscle out. Okay, let’s have a look at how we do that. So deltoids, obviously, it’s got three parts to it. We’re going to pick that needle spot right there and we’re going to get some really nice results. You can do some level 1 to 5 or level 6 to this muscle and get really good results. But how do we follow that up with manual therapy technique for the shoulder? Just sitting up for me. Okay.
01:06 So we’re going to work on this side. Just come back towards me a little bit. Okay. So in this position, we’re going to grab like so, just relax your arm for me. And we’re going to stretch out the anterior capsule, the anterior deltoid like this. We’re going to stretch out the posterior capsule. Just stretch out like this as well, and really a very strong technique and get some rotation in that shoulder just like this for any type of rotator cuff problem when you follow up after a deltoid dry needling technique. Don’t forget that muscle, the forgotten muscle, in the rotator cuff presentation. Hope that helps.
